The First Mizukage- Ikyanmi Shiro
The founder of Kirigakure, this monks suiton manipulation was so great, that it was rumored he could control the very ocean. He rose to power in the war-stricken land of water, where several powerful factions battled for dominance. He first gained the loyalty of the two strongest clans the area had to offer, the warlike Kaguya and the disciplined Antari, by defeating the clan's strongest fighters two on one. With his powerbase secured he launched a viscous war of unification. After a year of heavy fighting the last holdout fell, giving Shiro control of the land. He restored the position of Daimyo, and victorious fell back with his followers to the newly contructed Kirigakure. He ruled for over 20 years, however he eventually disapeared. A living will left behind named his daughter-in-law the next Mizukage.

The second Mizukage- Antari Hana
The daughter-in-law of the first Mizukage, she was from one of the Antari's lesser known branch families. Her line would assume control of the clan decades later, through the sixth Mizukage Antari Hidin. A skilled swordswoman, she was feared and respected for her ruthlessness and tactical cunning. She would expand the land of waters borders to their current areas. She also formed the first 7 Shinobi Swordsmen of the Mist group. She formed treaties with both Konoha and Suna to help protect her nation from the growing powers in the north, Iwa and Kumo. She ruled longer than any other Mizukage, eventually passing away from cancer, without naming a successor.

The Third Mizukage- Higerami Nobu
A greedy and capricious man who bribed the daimyo to support his ascension to Kage. He and his brother, the Fourth Mizukage, led Kirigakure to it's lowest point, the village almost dissolving. He involved the village in the slave trade, he himself kept several for his 'personal' use. His brother poisoned him three years after he became Kage.

The Fourth Mizukage- Higerami Ito
A paranoid and unstable man, he was far worse than the brother he assassinated. He had the shortest rule of all the Mizukages, at just over a year. His corrupt policies allowed the criminal element to gain a foothold in Kirigakure, that has yet to be dislodged. He began purging all those he felt disagreed with him, including Kekkai Genkai users, like the Antari who were devastated. The second Mizukage's student and leader of the 7 swordsmen led a rebellion against him and slew him in single combat.

The Fifth Mizukage- Onitsume Tazu
A student of the Second Mizukage and the Original leader of the Seven Swordsmen of tne Mist. She lead a rebelion against the fourth Mizukage and killed him in combat. During her reign she restored the village to glory. She took the second Mizukage's great granchildren as apprentices, one of which was the next Mizukage. When the Trio declared war she began massive build up of forces and heavily reinforced the borders. When Hidin became Mizukage she gave him her sword Mealstrom, which was given to herby the Second, who in turn recieved from the first. She ruled for 30 years before retiring, though she stills councils Hidin as an advisor.
