First Kazekage - Jiroubou Momochi
The first ruler of Sunagakure, Momochi ruled wisely. Sunagakure knew peace while he sat on his throne. Momochi was the first known men to control Sand with his will alone, his prowess was so great that no one dared to threaten the Wind Country, fearing swift and brutal retribution. Being a wise man, Momochi approached the other Hidden Villages, proposing alliances with those that seemed to be fare better. However, no leader accepted such treaties, thus, fearing that war would soon erupt, Momochi trained his son in arts of his bloodline and taught him on how to become a great leader. Momochi died of old age, feeling that his village would continue to grow.

Second Kazekage - Jiroubou Seitoshi
Momochi's son proved to be, like his father, a great and wise ruler. His prowess with Sand almost rivaled with the 1st Kazekage. Like his father before, Seitoshi approached the other Kages, trying to create an united front, but like before, his appeals were refused. The 2nd Kazekage continued to grow the village's armies, preparing it for the worst, however, such bad times never happened in his lifetime. Seitoshi lead his village into new heights, making it one of the most powerful villages in the entire world, making it as feared as it was before. Peace prevailed while he was alive. But his death changed everything as he had no heirs to be appointed.

Third Kazekage - Chomaru Abumi
Seitoshi had no sons or daughters, ergo, the Third Kazekage had no family ties to the previous one. Abumi was one of the strongest shinobis of the village at his time and so he was selected to succeed Seitoshi as Kazekage. However, while he had more than enough battle prowess to quench all rebellions and to thwart all attempts of invasions, he was a terrible leader. During his reign, several shinobis fled the village and formed a small community that would become a bitter enemy of Sunagakure. This community was later known as the Glass Village. Abumi was so focused in the arts of war that he took no wife and had no sons. Eventually he was assassinated by forces from the young Glass Village and left Sunagakure in the state of disarray.

Fourth Kazekage - Chomaru Yusei
Yusei was the younger brother of Abumi, being the self appointed 4th Kazekage. Like his older brother, Yusei's lacked any leadership skills and while Abumi compensated with his battle prowess, Yusei was pathetically weak. He had the shortest reign of any Kazekage, being it for two years only. Sunagakure became even weaker under Yusei's rule, its army forces slowly dwindled and any allies it had, forsook the Sand Village. Alone and weak was one of the mightiest Hidden Villages of all. In sheer madness, Yusei banded together a couple of the remaining ninjas and ventured forward, trying to destroy the Glass Village, a desperate act no doubt. He failed miserably and through his death, Sunagakure was left leaderless and with no one capable of picking up the mantle of Kazekage, until Shibuki's arrival.
